I'm in the Architecture in Technology and Operations of the Future Me Programme
I completed a Bachelor of Commerce and Science conjoint (majoring in Accounting, Commercial Law and Computer Science) at the University of Auckland
I started the future me graduate programme in February 2020. So far, I've been doing a lot of work around governance and reporting for ASB's Tech & Ops division, and working on ASB's Technology policy landscape.
What I like about working at ASB is the people have been super welcoming both in my direct team, fellow grads/alumni, and across the bank. Everybody's keen to help you out as a new grad and guide you in the right direction. The culture here really is amazing.

All business units will be looking for slightly different skill sets but at a minimum, you'll need to meet the following criteria:

No, we welcome all degrees and majors.
Our graduates are located in Auckland and regional areas around New Zealand.
In the Specialisation pathway you spend the duration of the programme on a work assignment within one platform, completing various experiences across different squads.
In the Rotations pathway you spend the duration of the programme within a business unit with rotations of 3 - 4 months across the various teams within that division. On the Rotations pathway you will complete between five and eight rotations.
The Future Me Programme offers two pathways. Our Specialisation pathway is a 12 - 18-month programme. Our Rotations pathway is an 18 - 24-month programme.
Yes, you can apply for as many streams as you wish. We recommend that you read all the available information before deciding what to apply for.

The Future Me Graduate Programme contains two pathways, Rotaional or Specialisation.
When applying for our roles, we’ve highlighted in the job adverts whether it is a Specialisation or a Rotational role, so be sure to keep an eye out for that when deciding which best suits you.
If the role you apply for is a specialistion, you’ll spend a minimum of 18 months honing your specific skills in this area, whilst staying connected to your cohort and working with some super talented people. Although these roles don’t rotate across teams, you will still get the chance to work across platforms and teams as you develop a deep understanding of your specialist area. Anytime from 18 months, to 24 months will be when you can begin conversations with your Future Me team about your post-programme role; the role you will move into when you graduate from the Future Me Programme.
If you’ve applied for a Rotational role, you’ll have the chance to move around 4 to 6 different areas of the team you have applied to, before deciding which area is most aligned to you, the experience you want to gain and the career you aspire to create. Anytime from 18 months, to 24 months will be when you can begin conversations with your Future Me team about your post-programme role; the role you will move into when you graduate from the Future Me Programme.

You’ll need to have your CV, Cover Letter and unofficial transcript ready to apply for a Future Me role. We also have some application questions that we need to tick off with you, so you’ll go through those and then submit your application. We recruit as we go, which means the earlier your application is in, the faster we’ll get back to you.
Video recording
If you’re application is looking good, we will then ask you to complete a video recording as part of the next steps in the process. You’ll be given 2 questions and heaps of time to answer them. We want you to tell us about you and what your journey through study, work, social and extra-curricular life has been like.
Assessment Day or Interview
Once your whole application has been viewed by our ASB Leaders, and if we wish to explore your application further, we will invite you to either an assessment day at one of our offices, an interview in person, or we’ll connect with you virtually. This is a two-way process, and we want you to get the most of this experience as we do!
Outcome
We know that waiting for an outcome can be really daunting, so we aim to come back to you as soon as possible. You will get a phone call from us if would like to offer you a role on the programme or whether we aren’t able to make an offer. Either way you will be contacted personally, and we’ll keep you updated each step of the way.
As a Future Me intern at ASB, you’ll contribute to real outcomes in our business from day one while working alongside awesome teams. We’re looking for people who can delight our customers with creative and innovative ways to deliver outstanding service and financial solutions.
Our Future Me Internships are full-time, paid and run from late-November through to mid-February. Over a 10-week period you’ll spend 400 hours in part of our business. We have a range of internships available this year so check out the stream descriptions below.

Engineering sits in our fast-paced and innovative Technology and Operations division. Multiple different squads and platforms means the learning never ceases. Our ASB Engineers work across a range of areas such as innovation, analysis, security, design, development and deployment of technology systems for ASB and our customers. As an intern, you’ll apply engineering principles to tangible real-world situations and get involved with reviewing, enhancing, testing and supporting systems. This is an opportunity to bring your innovative thinking to the team as we build technology solutions that improve the financial wellbeing of our customers.
Our Government & Regulatory Affairs team sits within our Business Services division and is responsible for monitoring and influencing regulatory change and coordinating engagement with our external stakeholders.
As an intern, you’ll be exposed to a variety of real world issues while learning more about regulation in the banking industry. You’ll get to support our business by monitoring, communicating, advocating and reporting about emerging regulatory change that affects ASB. Regulatory change is ever evolving so we’re seeking interns who are analytical, inquisitive and eager to learn from our experienced team.
Our Payments, Operational Support & Services team sets in our Technology & Operations division. The team provides centralised support to ensure our customer’s payment and cash needs are met, that we can help them through challenging times, and that the bank continues to deliver a range of improvement and change initiatives. As an intern, you’ll help the team deliver change across a variety of channels within ASB. We’re seeking interns who are passionate about working in a dynamic environment and being part of a great team, eager to learn and enthusiastic about delivering positive change.
Our new tribes are at the heart of our business and where we come together to create amazing customer experiences. Tribes and squads use human centred design, agile, lean, design thinking and other techniques to understand and then deliver what our customers truly want.
