Our Graduate and Intern Programmes – your opportunity to kick-start your career

Our Internship programme will be opening for applications later in 2020.
As an Auckland Council graduate or intern, you’ll get the chance to gain experience in a complex, large organization with endless possibilities to get involved with real projects and enjoy challenging and meaningful work.
As part of our commitment to youth employment, we offer a two-year graduate rotational program, as well as a paid three-month internship for students in relevant degree programs.
With annual graduate and intern intakes across Auckland Council, you will not only be gaining valuable experience but making a real difference towards shaping Auckland into a world-class city.

As an Auckland Council Graduate, you’ll be amazed at the possibilities on offer for your future – you’ll even be offered a permanent position with us from day one!
Our two-year Graduate Programme will provide you with accelerated learning and development, and rotations through your chosen area of work – ensuring you have hands-on experience, exposure to senior leaders and the chance to work on large scale projects and unique developments.
Throughout the rotations, you’ll have performance and development discussions with your manager, set achievement goals and highlight your strengths and improvement areas to fast track your development.
You will have a personal support team that includes a graduate cohort network, a business mentor and the Early Career Pathways, team.
All these support people are on board to ensure you succeed and will help you every step of the way.

Endless Opportunities for Interns like you

Our Internship Programme will provide you with paid, interesting, full-time work and career development while you study – so you can launch your career with Auckland Council!
We offer a three-month summer Internship Programme from November to February each year to students in the penultimate year of their degree in an aligned discipline.
Throughout your internship, you’ll have development discussions with your manager, set achievement goals and highlight your strengths and improvement areas.
