Junior Traffic Modeller

We are seeking to fill two graduate or junior modeller positions, one focussed on traffic modelling and one on travel demand modelling. These opportunities will report to the Auckland Forecasting Centre, which manages the region’s traffic and transport models.

These roles will assist in applying and maintaining the Auckland region’s traffic models and assist in providing multi-modal modelling information and services that meet the planning, operational and infrastructure delivery needs of Auckland.

Key Functions of the role will include:
  • Maintaining and applying transport and traffic models and databases. 
  • Undertaking transport monitoring as required 
  • Providing modelling information and services for:
    • Development of network and corridor plans for modelling input;
    • Coding traffic and operations designs;
    • PT service coding and checking;
    • Application of models and checking results
    • Assisting with the evaluation of project proposals
  • Ensuring appropriate specification and interpretation of modelling results to support the team.
  • Ensuring that traffic models are up to date and maintained.

Other key requirements for the role include:
  • 1-3 years’ experience in transport demand and/or traffic modelling
  • Experience in demand modelling and/or traffic modelling applications
  • Experience in GIS support or related field, such as land use, transport planning, advantageous
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of transport planning and systems and urban planning policies\
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint, VBA, Python skills desirable.
