Overview

This is your moment.

Find out more about starting your career at New Zealand’s most successful law firm. We achieve success by applying a simple test to all that we do – what would the best law firm do? It’s a simple question, but one that everyone at Bell Gully asks themselves every day.

Introduction

Being the best requires commitment, continuous improvement and conviction. Our people are connected and committed to the communities in which we work and live. They enjoy their work, and also the wide range of social events we offer. We provide an office environment that challenges, supports and encourages our people, and our client list is unmatched by any other New Zealand law firm. We seek out the very best scholars, summer clerks and graduates for our scholarship and summer programmes - a key part of our drive to remain NewZealand's best.

The Bell Gully difference

When you choose Bell Gully, our part of the bargain is to support you all the way. You start with a full induction programme, including our world famous team building event.

Then there’s the opportunity to work in three departments, giving you an insight into the firm’s wide range of work – something no other law firm offers. You work with one of the senior associates or partners in each department, their teams and their clients, to get first-hand experience of what it takes to succeed in a legal career.

We make sure every moment you spend with us counts, and you do real legal work. Our summer clerks research client cases, draft letters and analyse the impact of legislation on our clients' businesses. By preparing for and attending court hearings, mediations and client meetings, you’ll see for yourself how issues are resolved. If you’re part of a deal team, you’ll work with clients and external advisers - with genuine deadlines and pressure to match – and you could be involved in some headline-making deals.
