Indy started her journey with BNZ working as a Casual Customer Service Consultant within our West Auckland branch. Only three months after joining the team, she was offered a full-time permanent Customer Service Consultant role. This role offered Indy an opportunity to learn key back-office skills and gave her great holistic insight into BNZ as an organization.
Like other students, Indy was not sure what area she wanted to develop her career in. Working with BNZ, she took the opportunity to spend time with key people within the business. They were able to share insights about their journey with BNZ and gave her advice on areas where she could progress. BNZ offer employees the opportunity to do a ‘Day in the Life’ of other roles which are of interest to them. So, Indy spent a ‘Day in the Life’ with SME, Institutional Banking, and Partners.
After spending time learning about different roles within BNZ, Indy explored the idea of working within the Partners Centre. After completing her ‘Day in the Life’, Indy knew she wanted to be a Senior Associate so when a role came out a few months later, she took the leap.
A year later, Indy is thriving as an Associate and is completing an MBA full-time over the weekends. She plans to stay in her current role for another year and will look to progress her career with BNZ closer to the completion of her studies.
David knew he wanted to work in a bank ever since he was in Intermediate. He had aspirations to become a Bank Teller, which as he got older developed into exploring Business Banking and becoming a future leader. Right now David’s in the process of completing his Bachelor of Management Studies, at the University of Waikato, majoring in Finance and Economics.
He joined BNZ in the third year of his degree, the same year that BNZ celebrated the 7th year of being Canstar’s Best New Zealand Small Business Bank. He reckons the culture at BNZ means that everyone wants everyone to succeed, and David has been part of an extremely supportive team that do all they can to see him do just that – succeed both inside and outside of the bank.
People are the most important asset to an organization. The flexibility of the initial weekend workforce role and his current role as a Senior Associate has enabled him to succeed in both his studies and within BNZ.
