What is a summer clerkship?

It is an opportunity for you to experience working in a corporate/commercial law firm over the summer break in your penultimate year of university.

When are you recruiting?

We will be accepting applications for our 2020 / 2021 summer clerk programme until 1 July 2020.  This means we get to know you at a time that best suits you, not just us. We will run two selection processes for interviews in July / August.  To be selected in the first round, apply by 19 April 2020.  We will let you know by 1 May 2020 whether you have an interview with us.  Applications will remain open until 1 July 2020 when we will run our second selection process for interviews.

What opportunities can I take to get to know Buddle Findlay better?

We want to make sure we’re a great match, so it’s important that we get to know you and that you’re given an opportunity to get to know us.   At Buddle Findlay, our recruitment process has been designed to support this thinking and will allow you to build meaningful connections with our team to ensure we’re the right fit for you. We want to interact and connect with you so will be at your career days, we’ll hold employer presentations and host open days so you can see our workplace.

How will Buddle Findlay get to know me?

We hope to chat to you at one of the above events and we’ll get to know you well during the recruitment process.  Another great way for us to get to know you is by taking our quiz as part of the application process.  This provides an opportunity for us to get to know how you think, feel and operate, giving us a deeper understanding into who you are and giving you an insight into who we are as a firm.

When will the interviews take place?

Interviews will be held in July / August for all three offices – Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.  The date, time and formats of these are still to be confirmed.

What areas of law could I work in?
