Carter Holt Harvey Woodproducts NZ is one of New Zealand’s leading wood manufacturers. We produce and market a full range of wood based building products, which are supplied from a number of major manufacturing operations throughout NZ.  Our Whangarei Sawmill is a high production operation using modern technologies and wood processing equipment.

As a business, we’re committed to training and developing our people and working with them to become talented industry specialists. With a broad range of career options, we all have to start somewhere and right now we’re exploring external candidates to join us in shop floor operations.

Committed, energetic, eager to learn, willing to get stuck in and give new things a go; practical, driven and motivated will be the personal qualities that you possess.  A mechanical aptitude would also be ideal, however a positive attitude to learn is more important. Working alongside some of the best in the sawmilling industry, you’ll be trained and mentored by highly motivated and engaged professionals who gain thorough enjoyment by seeing others succeed.

In the first three months of your role, you’ll have an opportunity to show us your commitment to work and ability to learn with a view to striving towards a career with us. In doing so, we will show our commitment to you by putting you through a National Certificate in Solid Wood Manufacturing Level 2 which is a study programme supported by one of our external training providers.

Although previous manufacturing experience would be helpful, we also recognise talent across a wide variety of industries. You may be working in the trades, farming, mining, engineering, just finished school or study at Polytech or University or maybe you are someone looking for a total change in career and/or location.

Combined with receiving every day coaching and development with your dedicated Manager and team around you, you’ll be rewarded with a competitive hourly rate, overtime rates, a comprehensive benefits package including medical care plan, personal insurances, a generous superannuation program with CHH contributions, and generous staff purchasing discounts at Carters stores as well as on-going investment in training.

You can expect huge learning opportunities at a quick pace. Whether you’re looking to start your career out of school or university or continuing to pursue new heights in your existing career, we have an intellectually stimulating environment, embrace trying new things and encourage professional development.

It is important for you to know, as a business, we’re not shiny and new, we may not have the latest and greatest; we expect results and are performance intensive. We’re here to do our job; to deliver the highest quality manufactured product to our customers.

You will build a philosophy of continuous improvement through exposure to a broad variety of project initiatives and general business activities. You’ll push yourself to build personal capability, gain new skills, enhance your strengths, develop progressive thinking, all whilst being mentored, supported and developed by our talented leaders and teams who recognise and acknowledge your achievements. This will prove vital moving up your career ladder.

Possibilities are infinite. Join our CHH Woodproducts team and be part of a business providing building blocks for New Zealand home owners and their dreams. That’s what we’re all about - simple yet spectacular.
