WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Future Leader

The Crombie Lockwood programme is all about developing your business skills. You will embark on an intensive 11-month journey learning all facets of our business. As part of a global business, we’re big enough to fulfill your ambitions, and with a local approach that ensures your voice will be heard.  Whether it’s an off-shore opportunity or a role in your home town in NZ, we have opportunities for you.

Our first five Early Talents are currently completing rotations across Commercial and Personal businesses in Auckland CBD, Takapuna, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Palmerston North. If you want to speak to one of them directly to find out about their experience, click here to request a call. One of the team would love to speak to you as they were exactly like you only 10 months ago!

There has been a real commitment from right across Crombie Lockwood to make our Early Talent Programme work well so you can also count on another almost 1,000 people from Kaitaia to Invercargill looking out for you, including one of our verteran success stories coming back from retirement to share his knowledge. The sessions he ran last year were rated as some of the best all year by a number of the team.

To Start....

You'll start in the business on a $50k salary

For the first part of 2020 you will be based in our Beaumont St office in Auckland and focus on  intensive professional development to accelerate your business skills, including:
  • Attending workshops to enhance your skills in business communication, advising and servicing clients, problem solving, working together, being self aware, resilience, how to present with impact, influencing, and planning.
  • Working on projects to solve real business issues.
  • Shadowing high-performers to get a real understanding of what it takes to be a successful broker.
  • Coaching from one of our Early Talent Team that has just graduated into a business role and a senior mentor to support you.
  • Completing your professional qualification to become a registered financial advisor and insurance broker.
  • Attending sessions with experts to learn the business of insurance - what cover is available, how to read a policy and much more. Check out here a little about the growing need for Cyber cover.
  • Wellness afternoons to keep reminding you to live beyond work - last year some of the team surprised themselves by trying yoga and mindfulness, and discovered new foods during a cooking lesson with a nutritionist.

The second half of 2020 you will get to truly test your skills, taking assignments in a number of our business areas – it might be personal insurance, life, and health, business, or even something a bit obscure. (Did you know we have customers that ensure beekeepers, blockbuster films, and even a piano player that plays the piano upside down?) You need to be mobile because you could be spending 2-3 months in any one of our branches across the country. But don't worry you will decide together with the Early Talent Programme Manager which regions you venture to - including Auckland based branches.

Different to most other programmes, you will have the same manager all year, someone who knows you well and can make sure you have the best possible experience.
