Filing and tea making aren’t high on the agenda for our interns. Instead, you will experience first-hand how an advisor works in the professional environment. You’ll receive training, mentoring from a manager and be exposed to realistic work experience by participating in assignments for a wide variety of clients.

We offer the opportunity for a small group of people to join us over the summer holidays of their penultimate year to complete an internship. We appreciate not everyone knows what they want to do when they finish university, so we provide internships that rotate through business advisory and audit services to give you a taste of the work you would do in each area.

You will have the opportunity to experience life at Grant Thornton, and gain an insight into our unique culture. As an intern, you are accepted into daily life straight away by doing practical work, attending training sessions and meetings, and enjoying social activities.

Throughout your internship there are two-way feedback sessions, and before you complete the programme you will know whether you will be offered a graduate role. We have a high success rate of interns being offered and accepting graduate positions, reducing the level of stress associated with your last year of university and the pressure to find a role.

The programme runs annually in Auckland and Christchurch from late November to mid-February and provides the perfect opportunity to experience life in professional services at Grant Thornton!

What will I get out of it?

  • realistic work experience
  • insight into Grant Thornton’s culture
  • the opportunity to work with partners and senior staff
  • on-the-job coaching
  • network building
  • feedback on your progress
  • consideration for a future graduate position
