Meet Our Teachers
Liv Ford - Mathematics teacher
"Nearing the end of my Master of Teaching and Learning at the University of Canterbury, Kristin was the first school I approached in the hopes of joining the teaching team. I was attracted to the school as I knew it was well resourced, provided students and staff with a range of learning and development opportunities and I had close family members who already loved being a part of the Kristin community. Since starting my teaching journey in the mathematics department I have been further pleased by and am thankful for the lovely students and supportive staff I've built relationships with."
Ellie Pankhurst - Science Teacher
"I always knew I wanted a career working with children and young people, but I also wanted to use the knowledge I had gained while studying Science, so teaching science seemed like the perfect fit. I couldn’t have had a better start to my teaching career than I have had at Kristin School. I have been given amazing opportunities already, including attending a professional development workshop in Singapore, and being able to teach Environmental Systems and Societies, an IB subject that I am passionate about but that is rarely taught in other schools. The community here has been welcoming and supportive, and the relationships I have built with both students and staff have been extremely rewarding."
Hugh Shi - Kindergarten Teacher
"Growing up from another cultural background brings me a fresh perspective and curiosity about education in a different country. I always strive to be the best I can be, in the best place. So I jumped at the chance to be part of the Kristin family. I have never had a dreary day here — something inspiring and enjoyable is always happening. What motivates me most is learning and growing with and alongside a strong team. My colleagues are all amazingly self-driven, and provide the best for every young soul with great love and pride. The outstanding teamwork comes from each passionate individual who shines and unravels the unlimited potential of the open minds. ‘Every child you encounter is a divine appointment’. I believe meaningful learning and quality education can be everywhere in the world, from a remote village school playground in China, to a group of happy 4-year-olds’ bush walk at Kristin. Professionalism, commitment and love are what define it. This is why countless families and I embrace Kristin on our learning journey. I’m enjoying the ride!"
