Help Shape the Future of Education

Excited about making a difference to NZ’s future through education? So are we!

We’re an organisation of more than 3,000 talented people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

We’re based in 38 different locations around New Zealand. We all have different skills, and work in different fields.

But, we’re all in it for the same reason. To make the biggest difference we can for every child, young person and adult student in our education system.

About You

Why start your career here?

We’re looking for talented young people who are as excited as we are about shaping the future of education.

Our student career programmes are designed to develop, challenge and support you. We aim to provide an inclusive environment that supports your wellbeing and development. We welcome and encourage fresh perspectives from people with diverse skills, knowledge and experience who can help us better understand, and reflect the communities that we work with.

No matter where you want to go in your career, our programmes will provide you with a solid foundation of skills and experience to kick-start your professional career.

Where can a career with the Ministry take me?

We need diverse skills and knowledge, and there are lots of different career opportunities available.

You could be helping shape education policy as a Policy Advisor, supporting students who need learning support as an Educational Psychologist, collaborating with iwi and Pacific communities, working on exciting tech projects in I.T, starting your career in HR, Finance or Communications, or more!

Whatever path you take, you’ll gain valuable skills and experience along the way.

Who are we looking for?

You’ll be a natural leader, who is resilient and self-motivated to learn and contribute, then we want to hear from you!

We welcome applications from young people of all academic backgrounds. We know there are many different pathways in education. Your academic grades aren’t the be-all and end-all. We’re looking for fresh ideas and diverse perspectives, as well as the ability to learn from your mistakes, take the initiative and communicate effectively.

If you want to help shape the future of education, we want to hear from you.
