"I started working at Staples Rodway as a tax graduate at the end of 2017. During my short time working here, I have really enjoyed the variety of compliance and consulting work, meeting clients, and above all, working with the supportive, caring people in the Staples Rodway Tax Team.

What initially drew me to Staples Rodway was their reputation for tax, having heard of the Staples Rodway tax guide at university.  However, in terms of continued professional and technical development, working alongside experienced colleagues who are passionate about tax, and who want to see you develop and enjoy what you do, has been most invaluable for my learning. In addition to learning on the job, we also have regular technical and update trainings which ensures that we are kept up to date with the most recent changes.

Work life balance and the culture at Staples Rodway are great, and the firm really encourages you to not only get to know the people within your own team (i.e. team building activities), but also people in other departments. Overall, I have really enjoyed my time at Staples Rodway and I look forward to continuing and progressing with my career here."

Amanda Lowe
2018 TAX Graduate

"I joined the Business Advisory Team at Staples Rodway Christchurch in 2018 and have so far thoroughly enjoyed the time I have worked here.

There is a bit of a learning curve coming straight from University, however, the team here are incredibly supportive and encouraging. You are assigned a buddy who will show you the ropes and answer the numerous questions you have. Along with this, managers and directors often check in to see that everything is going smoothly.

There is a large variety of work to do for different clients and throughout my first year I was given jobs that I never would have thought I could do within my first year, but with the great support system and the constant communication with managers and directors made working on larger jobs a lot less daunting.

Starting my career with Staples Rodway has been a great decision and I am looking forward to further progressing my career with Staples Rodway in years to come."

Hamish Sowden
2018 BAS Graduate

"Starting my professional career with Staples Rodway Christchurch in the business advisory team has been an invaluable experience. From the outset I have felt like a valued part of the firm. Everyone has been exceedingly supportive and encouraging while assisting me to develop my technical and professional skills.

The plunge from university to the workforce can be overwhelming to say the least but as a graduate you are allocated a mentor to assist you in the transition as well as having regular catch ups with your manager and director to track your development and receive constructive feedback.

Over the short time that I have worked here, I have had the opportunity to participate in client meetings, had contact with several clients and worked on a variety of different tasks for clients in various industries.

Staples Rodway values maintaining a work-life balance. This is encouraged through social sports teams, social club events, office lunches and many more activities that allow you to get to know other colleagues on a personal level. Staples Rodway also supports you in your professional development through providing consistent training and supporting you on your endeavours to become CA or CPA qualified.

Starting my career at Staples Rodway has been remarkable and I look forward to coming years."

Dale Crowe
2018 BAS Graduate

"The Staples Rodway Christchurch team made me feel at home from the first moment I walked through the door. The difference that sets Staples Rodway apart for me is that you are a valued member of the team from day one, you are not just number!

During my first year as a BAS Graduate I have been able to work on a wide variety of clients across different industries. This means every job is different and you are constantly experiencing new things which is challenging yet very rewarding. The supportive culture takes the pressure off and allows you to learn at your own pace and style.

Staples Rodway encourages you to be yourself and maintain a work-life balance. Social club and sports events have been a great way to get to know my colleagues across the team.

I have really enjoyed my first year at Staples Rodway and I’m looking forward to the opportunities the coming years will bring."
