- Public Sector Finance Graduate Programme
- Launch your finance career and become a qualified accountant
- Develop together with other graduates to build professional networks
Are you a big thinker who wants to make a real difference for New Zealand?
Government agencies work hard to help Kiwis live their lives and working behind the scenes, to make it all happen, are finance teams. We're looking for graduates to fuel that mission and help make a difference.
The Public Sector Finance Graduate Programme is an exciting development programme, led by the Department of Internal Affairs, for you to launch your finance future! You'll spend three years developing your finance and leadership skills by gaining experience in rotations across different Government agencies, helping to provide trusted advice that makes a difference for all of New Zealand, from Parliament to individual Kiwis. We know what you study is often very different when you have to put it into practice so you'll get to work across a range of finance functions to find the type of work that most interests you and be given the chance to step up to manage smaller projects of your own.
Based in Wellington, we'll provide you with unique development opportunities as you study towards becoming a fully qualified accountant. You'll receive a highly competitive salary, professional membership fees, full program fees, paid study time and additional tuition workshops to help you succeed, all while working alongside passionate mentors who are leaders in public sector finance.
We want graduates who:
- Think outside the box
- Are self-motivated to succeed
- Show leadership potential
- Work well in a team
- Are effective communicators and critical thinkers
- Want to understand the 'why' and ‘so what’ behind the numbers
- Are networkers who can build strong working relationships
- Are passionate about helping make New Zealand a better place
Applicants must meet the academic requirements to enter their professional accounting program of choice e.g. CA Program or CPA Program and must be eligible to work in New Zealand for the full three years of the Programme (e.g. New Zealand/Australian citizen or permanent resident, or three-year post-study work visa).
We believe in a workplace culture that's supportive, collaborative and innovative. We also believe in trying hard and having fun while knowing that what we do is for the good of New Zealand. If that sounds like you then we look forward to receiving your application!
