  • Are you ready to power up your career?
  • Earn while you learn - we'll pay you while you study toward an NZ diploma in Engineering!

Employed as an Engineering Cadet, you will be commencing your engineering career with us in January 2020. Your first year will consist of attending two resident block courses at MIT in Auckland (each of a 12 week duration) and on job training where you will learn the fundamentals of the electrical industry from an engineering perspective. You'll rotate through various functions of our business to understand all facets of electrical engineering, with exposure to project management, design estimation, transmission and network engineering. The second and third years of employment will consist of one 12 week block course each year, with the rest of the year working in our business. Upon completion of your three year cadetship there will be opportunities for you to move into a specialist position within our organisation.

This is an amazing and rare opportunity for an individual to earn while they learn, gain a valuable qualification and progress towards an interesting career in electrical engineering with a growing reputable organisation. You will be paid from your first day of training and all costs towards obtaining your qualification will be funded by Northpower.

We would require you to be available for a one week company induction in December 2019, with paid employment commencing from mid-January 2020.

Positions are available in Whangarei, Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga and Wellington. Please note that the block courses are completed at MIT in Auckland, we will arrange transportation for you if you live outside of Auckland and resident accommodation for you for the duration of the block course (accommodation costs are to be met by the cadet).
